Stop paying to find work.

Real workers, real numbers

What trades have spent — and saved.

Example 1
Plasterer in Hastings

Year 1 on Checkatrade: £1,500 in fees, won 8 jobs. "I was paying more to be on the platform than I earned from some months."

Switched to SubbieBook: £0 in fees, 12 jobs in 6 months.
Example 2
Brickie in Brighton

Spent £400 on MyBuilder leads in 3 months, won 2 jobs. "I was bidding against 4 other brickies for every job. Felt like a race to the bottom on price."

On SubbieBook: builders see your day rate, contact you direct. No bidding wars.
Example 3
Sparky in Kent

TrustATrader + MyBuilder = £100/month combined. "I was paying £1,200/year for the privilege of being on a platform with 50 other sparks."

SubbieBook saving: £1,200/year + actually getting day-rate work.

So how can SubbieBook be free?

If we don't charge workers, how do we make money?

We charge builders a flat monthly subscription (£49-£199/month).

No commission on jobs. No per-booking fees. No lead fees. Just a flat sub for builders who want direct access to the construction workforce.

That means we're aligned with you — we want you booked, you keep your full day rate, the builder pays you direct.

The more workers we have, the more valuable the platform is to builders. So we want you on it. We're not going to charge you for that.

Why these platforms even exist

Checkatrade, MyBuilder, Rated People — these platforms were designed for homeowners hiring trades, not builders hiring subcontractors.

A homeowner wants a one-off kitchen fitter. They want quotes from 3 trades and to pick the cheapest. The platforms monetise that by charging trades to be quote-eligible.

But construction is different. Builders need verified subbies on day rates for ongoing jobs. The "quote war" model doesn't work — and you shouldn't have to pay to compete in it.

First 100 workers: free for life

Common questions

Are you really free, with no catches?
Yes. Workers are free forever. We make money from builder subscriptions, not from you. No upsells, no premium tiers, no lead fees, no "featured listing" charges.
Why should I trust you over Checkatrade with 17 years of history?
You shouldn't trust us blindly. Try us. We're free — there's literally no risk. Worst case: you waste 10 minutes signing up. Best case: you find direct hire work without the fees.
What if SubbieBook adds fees later?
First 100 workers get founder status: free for life, guaranteed. Even if we charge other workers later, founders stay free forever. We'll honour that even if the company gets sold.
Can I keep using Checkatrade as well?
Absolutely. Use whatever works. We're not asking you to leave any platform. Just give us a try alongside whatever you're already on.
How is the work different from MyBuilder?
MyBuilder = mostly homeowner one-off jobs, paid per project. SubbieBook = builders looking for day-rate subbies for ongoing construction work. Different work, different model.
What about CIS?
We capture CIS status (Gross / Net 20% / Net 30% / Not CIS) on every job, auto-calculate gross/deduction/net on completion, and give you a CSV/PDF export for your accountant. We do not verify workers with HMRC or file CIS300 returns — that remains your (or your accountant's) responsibility.
